Interviews, written by Jules Delahaye, Paul Lecellier

Interview: Miss Kay Ritter the Dean of Students.

Kay Ritter has worked in LFSF for 30 years and she is the longest serving member of staff. She said that the rumor about removing the bars is true but it will depend upon whether or not it rains. This means if there is not enough shelter then they will construct a lunch area.
She does not like Pokemon Go because she thinks that it is dangerous and that people walk in the traffic without checking their surroundings.
she loves, paul, enzo.

Hoboken Train Crash kills 1 and injures 114
By Lucas, Ella & Romy

At 8:45am on September 28th a New Jersey train overran its stopping point, hit the bumper block, went airborne and hurtled through a passenger concourse. The woman killed was standing on the platform and was struck by flying debris. Bhagyesh Shan was riding in the back of the front car and witnessed the crash; he said that the train didn’t slow down or even stop when it came into the station. Suddenly, he was on the floor with parts of the roof and debris beside him. The crash occurred five years after a similar crash in the same station. The train also did not stop and hit the bumper block as well. Thirty people were injured in that crash and police are now investigating if the two have anything in common. A few days later, they recovered a potentially key piece of evidence, an event recorder. The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) team in New Jersey says that they will never find a conclusion about what caused the crash. “The NTSB
sent the recorder to its manufac-
more rules or have somebody looking to make sure nothing is dangerous. Then some kids complained that if they put rules on what you could and could not do on the bars, that it wasn’t fun anymore. So we cannot satisfy anyone which is why this problem is out of control. Even though it may be unsafe, taking the bars away is not the answer. It will only make things worse. One of the students pointed out that some of the kids wanted to do gymnastics and did not have time to take lessons for the moment, so at school was the only time they could. So destroying the bars could affect a lot in their future. The student who went to the hospital quoted : “I love gymnastics, and when I got hurt I was a little scared to restart gymnastics, but in the end I faced my fear and started again. If I hadn’t done it, I would have regretted it. And I would have never reached the level that I am atnnow.”

What is your opinion about removing the bars? Did you ever actually play on them?
I did and I think that if they’re taking off the bars they are going to have to take off the wood-chips and I have found them very useful for doing things like back-flips.

The Kurds, inspired by the rebels, decided to take up arms against Assad.
Iran, one of Assad’s allies, started to send money and troops to support him. In response to this act, the Gulf States funded rebels through Turkey.
The situation began to escalate and Hezbollah, a Lebanese powerful political and military organization, took Assad’s side. At this point in the war, it was basically a fight between the Sunni (rebels and their allies), and the Shia (Assad and his allies) branches of Islam.
In 2013, Assad used one of his chemical bombs on the rebel city of Ghouta. Around 1,700 people were killed, including 280 French and around 350 British, according to intelligence agents.
To help the rebels protect and defend themselves, the CIA started training them.

Opinion: School Playground may be unfairly demolished
By Ava, Lucie, Alice, Marie & Louann

At the Lycee Francais de San Francisco, there is a possibility that the school playground is to be destroyed. The decision will be based on the need  for space for other things. The area is composed  of gymnastics bars, a climbing net, monkey bars, parallel bars, a metal round beam and “copeaux” (wooden chips). Everything may  be taken away. The school board might
Do you think this year has started out more like a revision or learning new things and why?
I think that last year was a revision of 5th grade and elementary. This year is when we actually started to learn new things. I think that the first one or two months, we will be
revising.

Do you usually try to help the 6th graders since they are new here now?
Yes but sometimes some can be very frustrating and I’m just going to avoid them.

How does it feel like to not be the youngest in the school now? Do you think you know this school better now that you’ve been learning in it for a year?
Yes, I think it’s easier to get around the school now, and I know more of the stuff. But since most of the teachers from last year left, it’s slightly irritating.  Although the work hasn’t been much harder but there is definitely more work to
do.

Aleppo is a hospital city which means there are a lot of sick and wounded people already. At least 16 people were killed at a wake during the most recent bombing and 525 people between April and July of 2016.
Aleppo is an ancient city that is thousands of years old. The population in 2004 was over 2 million people and is one of Syria’s largest cities. Much of the city has been destroyed through the Syrian Civil War. The population is suffering from lack of fresh food, water and safe homes.

Donald Trump elected President of the United States of America

On the 8th of November 2016, Donald Trump unexpectedly won the presidency. The electoral polls had expected Hillary Clinton to
soon decide to turn the space into a lounge  for eating. This affects many children who spend all their free time at school, on the bars. What will they do instead? That, nobody knows. Since they spend all their time playing on the bars, they will probably just stay inside and do  indoor activities. They would probably not do anything outside because most of those kids are not big fans of basketball and there is no place else to do gymnastics or play on structures. It will impact their behavior a lot since they will probably be mad and sad at this situation. They might want to know why it all happened. One reason behind that is that a kid was playing on the monkey bars and she fell and banged her head against the metal bars. She was then taken to the hospital, and she suffered a concussion with loss of memory and blackout, and broke her nose.
It is  very concerning, but instead of taking away the playground just for one accident, they should make
What is the difference in between last year and this year for you?
I think this year there has been a lot more work and homework.

Aleppo and the Syrian Conflict

President elect Trump won the majority of the electoral votes.  There will be a transition period whereby outgoing President Obama will share knowledge and advice.
There have been protest marches in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and Oakland. The protesters are concerned about some of the policies that President Trump has suggested regarding health care, immigration, guns, a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, NATO, nuclear weapons, taxes and nominations to the Supreme Court.

  ALEPPO AND THE SYRIAN CONFLICT
By: Ian Detoc, Mateo Allexandre, Arthur Margot, Nicolas Courbage, Vincent Legendre

The Syrian conflict started becoming violent after the day Assad’s army opened fire on protesters. A portion of Assad’s army, who supported the rebels, broke away from Assad and join the rebels. They call themselves the Free Syrian Army.

To avoid further losses and conflict, the rebels and the Free Syrian Army moved towards Jordan. To make it more difficult for foreign forces to help and supply the rebels, Assad released a big portion of his jihadist prisoners for them to form a new terrorist group in Syria, North of the rebels. The jihadists now form their new Al-Qaeda group in Syria.

The Kurds, inspired by the rebels, decide to take up arms against Assad.

Iran, Assad’s only ally, starts sending money and troops to support Assad. To respond to this act, the Gulf States start to send money to rebels through Turkey.

The situation escalates and Hezbollah, a Lebanese powerful political and military organization takes Assad’s side. At this point in the war it is basically a fight between the Sunni (rebels and their allies), and the Shia (Assad and his allies) branches of Islam.
The situation keeps escalating and in 2013 Assad uses one of his chemical bombs on the rebel city of Ghouta. Around, 1700 people were killed around 280 French intelligence and around 350 UK intelligence.

To help the rebels protect and defend themselves, the CIA starts training the rebels.

All this time, the Al-Qaeda has also been causing problems to everybody, but when the leader of the terrorist group in the country starts having ideas for the group that not everybody agreed on, things go bad for the leader. To prevent bloodshed, the leader breaks away from the group with a small number of militants and creates ISIS.

The new ISIS group decides to declare war on the Kurds who have been resisting the Al-Qaeda group in the past.

It is now a mess in Syria and the Russians joins in claiming that they will bomb ISIS. Russia, not sticking to their word bomb the rebels instead. That is where Aleppo comes in. The Russian army decides to bomb a city called Aleppo in the North-West of Syria.

Aleppo is a hospital city which means there are a lot of sick and wounded people already. At least 16 people were killed at wake during the most recent bombing and 525 people during April through July of 2016.

One of the students pointed out that some of the kids wanted to be gymnasts or have something to do with gymnastics and did not have time to take lessons for the moment, so at school was the only time they could do it. So destroying the bars would inflict a lot on their future. It may seem dumb for some of you out there since they are young, but a famous gymnast Simone Biles started gymnastics at 6 years old and is now Gold Medal winner from the Olympics. The kid who went to the hospital quoted to us: “I love gymnastics, and when I got hurt I was a little scared to restart gymnastics, but in the end I faced my fear and started again. If I hadn’t done it, I would have regretted EVERY SINGLE Day of my life. And I would have never reached the level that I am at now.”

This proves to the people out there who are for closing the school playground that demolishing it would ruin lives of kids.

We would like to Thank You readers for paying close attention to this article and shouting out to your friends or whoever to read this or tell them about it. Tell them all the reasons why NOT To close the School Playground.

Thank You Again.

UPS Drones?

A new way to deliver

In countries such as the United States. UPS have been testing a new way to deliver, with drones.

Personally I think that these drones are nice put if the package falls of well then most probably no one will be able to prove that. So you will lose your money, although this also happens when they don’t deliver at the correct address. Another bad thing is that it’s possible to shoot the drone down. On the other hand the chances of someone to shoot a driver is a high as someone shooting a drone.

Most of the drones have a radar to get through their voyages, they also have eyes, and night visions. Making the drone fly is pretty cheap, around 5c a mile, the price of the drone actually has not came out.
